The Dailies. June 21

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. After much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, I finally figured out what I was missing from my font for Lortho: ligatures. With this realization, it is apparent that I now must create four ligatures per glyph to make the vowels interact appropriately with each letter (I say four because the vowel [i] is a letter on its own whereas the other four are diacritics). This seems like a daunting and tedious task; however, now that I know what to do it should be relatively easy (at least, I hope it will be). So, back to the grinding wheel. Otherwise, I used the Conlanger’s Thesaurus and was able to derive two new words from existing vaocabulary:

lʰanu [‘lʰɑ.nu] (n. fem) breath; pl lʰanune (from balʰano to breathe)
tʰoma [‘tʰo.mɑ] (n. neut) life; pl tʰomane (from tʰomit to live)
