The Dailies. August 18

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. So worked on the phonemic inventory table, didn’t like that I ended up plunking the lateral consonants in the alveolar section because of the front occlusion being considered the important one when it’s the back occlusion that’s in palatal and it really looked like a palatal fricative was unbalanced, so I made the glottal allophone primary again for now. We’ll see how it ends up.

ETA: I also might move the lateral clicks to post-alveolar. It’s harder to tell there because I don’t think it’s actually phonemic.

  2. I’m a little behind on crossposting here so some progress from the last couple days:

instead of “favorite,” ask questions with “mind” (which) rather than “von” (what).

Bemnodē wenifdi von? What colors do you like?
Bemnodē wenif mind? Which color do you like [most]? (You could still answer with more than one color but this would be less common.)

    And some sight/sound descriptive words:

    kinef: richly structured, patterned
    nibing: random, unpatterned
    yaē: adorable, like a baby
    pauwip: (visually) unattractive
mungkin: attractive, beautiful (mostly for visual things, sometimes for hearing)
