The Dailies. September 11

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. This might not be conlanging, but for a few days I’ve been working on building my word generator (that I originally built for Firen) into an English sentence generator.

You can see it on my website.

So far, it can generate sentences of approximately this level of complexity:

I’m yellower, but one wasn’t greener than three of these redder fish.

If these are yellower than theirs then those aren’t bluer.

I plan to do the same for Firen once the English one is decently far along. The Firen grammar will probably be a lot simpler, I think, but I don’t think that’s entirely a bad thing. Naturalistic verb-peripheral languages tend to have somewhat simpler clauses, I think, so it might not even be unusual.

I’d elaborate on the workings of the generator, but I’m afraid that would be too off-topic.

  2. Mostly just reading today and puzzling my way through whether Akachenti evening constructions (for the most part, suffixes, but with some caveats) used to be verbs that incorporated other verbs, straightforward compound verbs (similar to serial verbs with light verbs, etc.), or they’re grammaticized verbs with regular noun incorporation.

I feel like I understand the language better but make little daily progress.
