The Dailies. May 14

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. Yesterday I finally got back into two things: streaming and conlanging! Haven’t done either in months but I finally premiered my new weekly conlang/writing streaming time which is Sunday mornings my time zone. Here’s the VOD if anyone wants to see.

Rather than work on Lǣš-enne as I usually do, I did a sort of… analysis of a story I started drafting recently. I used the names I made up to see what sounds are attested in the language, and various worldbuilding/conculture bits from it to see what other conclusions I could draw from it, and basically made a little document with everything that’s attested in my draft or can be inferred and put it down, from phonemes to stuff like “they have a honorific-type thing which is used by parents to their children as an affectionate term, as yet undetermined”.

I had a lot of fun doing it and honestly now I wanna do it with all my stories set in Erziyye XD.

      1. Well, I have one full novel drafted and part of a novella (the one I was working on a conlang for on the stream). A handful of just-started to near-finished short stories. And then a whole slew of stories I haven’t really started on yet of varying lenghts.

I don’t have anything finished (for self-pub or submission) in the setting yet but it’s definitely the world that has the most ideas and characters tied to it of all my fictional worlds.
