The Dailies. September 18

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. It’s been quiet around here lately, hasn’t it? Well, I made some new words today, motivated by need. (That need just so happens to have been that I decided to name my enchanted items in Minecraft in Firen, but a motivation is a motivation.)

    • zaṙ, gem or crystal
    • fummu, wealth; value (in a trade sense)
    • tao, bow (as in the weapon)
    • mup, arrow
    • taona, to shoot (which lead to na, to use (in the most essential way), by post-hoc backformation, which joins the set of semi-grammaticalized verbal modification suffix roots)
    • hagu, sword
    • rutta, to reap

The compounds I made for naming purposes are “Missizaṙgůtta”, “giver of many gems” (fortune pick); “Naṙnadkůskaiszamuptao”, “bow without need of arrows” (infinity bow); and “Ruttagoshagu”, “reaping sword” (sweeping edge sword).

    1. Yeah, it really has. I’ve had an awful cold and not touched any of my conlangs in like 2-3 weeks. Glad to see someone else posting!

Those are some impressive compounds! Also “mup” makes me giggle.
