Nahul:
25. sorai (adj) ‘secret’
26. sorioth (n) ‘secret’. (In derivations, the first element of a diphthong disappears in this language.)
Gueleká hatrín phaga ennanelai, au eoi pu sorioth.
I will inherit the position as head of the household from my father, but it’s a secret.
I love these! Especially the nominalization.
Thank you!
I now realize I was a bit too broad – there are other words with word-final diphthongs that don’t get treated that way in derivations. But that’s still the general pattern.
I feel like most languages end up with some general patterns that feel right but still vary just a bit within the pattern. It feels realistic.
bìgahi • [ ˩bi:.ga.hi ] • adj., better, as in Inàti bìgahibasot. “Better the nàti (desert spirit) than the foreigner.”
Oh, I love how it attaches to the thing it’s compared against (the less good thing)!
Thank you! I love seeing where Akachenti agglutinates and where it doesn’t. This one just felt right.
Very cool!
Another basic verb yesterday:
Muqur /muqur/ – “can”, in the sense of “to be able to”
