The Dailies. August 1, 2022

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. Really, I’ve done a lot of work building paradigms for Mirishtí and another fic’s language I spun up (they proliferate at a terrifying rate), but have been waiting to post until I hammered out the kinks in the paradigms, despite building lexicon in the process.

Mirishtí is solidly three genders now: masculine, feminine, and neuter. I’m not happy with the neuter paradigms yet, so still at work.

The other language (which needs a name) is in a world with six sexes but where they tend to lump them into two buckets, which we shall call asara and ara and these “sarawuul” and “arawuul” are the two grammatical genders, which has some interesting results with how these interrelate across the six sexes but now that the system is basically hammered out, it’s mostly working out little things like how do I know which of the three main allomorphs to use for plural/collective marking, how does agreement work in the adjectives, and what shall we do with TAM.

I’ve sorted out the basic noun paradigm, which has a different singular specific indefinite, non-specific indefinite, and definite, but only differentiates plural and collective in the definite. There’s a lovely little locative suffix, -eko, and negative suffix, -its. I have enough vocab that I need to sit down and throw together a phonology too.
