The Dailies. January 28, 2023

Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?

On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you’ve already created? Do you have any favorites to share?

How did you conlang today?

  1. New Beldreni word of the day:

    watos (adv) over there

    From:
    tos (adv) there
    u- adverbial prefix
a- nominal prefix with a locational meaning, example: lāte (v); alāte (n) ‘school’.

Gene watos to, Aounden ho tama o lökrau.
The land over there belongs to the city(state) of Aounden.
(To is the topic marker; lökrau means ‘belong’ (v).)

      1. It’s so great when that works!

I think I have a particular weakness for prefixes that can change the word’s grammatical class. I don’t think they exist in my language, we have plenty of prefixes, but they all add/change semantic meaning without changing the noun’s grammatical function. (Maybe that’s uncommon in European languages in general?)
