The Literary Week – Day 4

The Literary Week – Day 4

Hopefully finding these quotes doesn’t turn out to be more fun than translating them. Oh well, today, I bring you: “If you tell the truth you do not need a good memory!” – Mark Twain, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

As with yesterday, I’ll have to come back to this to do my own translation in a comment.

  1. If you tell the truth you do not need a good memory!
    Kůtillafisaidi hisktif, naskaisasaini laskommuse!
    Ků-tillafi-sai-di hisk-tif, na-skaisa-sai-ni la-skommu-se!
    HAB-speak:COND-A3A-P3D truth-D, not-need:IND-A3A-P3A strong-mind-A!
If one speaks the truth, one doesn’t need a strong mind!

Idiom time: a “strong” mind is one that can carry much, and a mind “carries” memories. Hence, a strong mind = a good memory.
